UNSHELTERED is a co-created zine featuring the artwork, stories, and hopes for change from folks experiencing gender-based homelessness in Hamilton, Ontario. UNSHELTERED focuses on engaging participants who are unable to access traditional shelter space.
In between issues, UNSHELTERED hosts art workshops in various low-barrier, gender-specific spaces. Folks are invited to create an art piece and share a story about their experiences of being without shelter in Hamilton. We provide honourariums for our participants, and ensure they have access to toiletries, self care items, and weather appropriate clothing.
We strive to tell stories in the most accessible format. All issues are available online for free, and the price for a downloaded copy will go towards providing honorariums, cover printing costs, and replenish supplies.
